32 inch bar is about 2/3 the way in on this tree.
 
Are you using this as a slab for a project? Maybe a table?

Ripping chain, I assume? Is that quicker than dropping it and cutting the regular way?

In this case yes. That was our first cut on this tree. Big root flairs everywhere and he wanted it close to ground level for the stump grinder.
