After a long search here and elsewhere, and after talking to a few owners, and after a lot of online research, I have ordered the Ideal Steel Hybrid from the Woodstock Soapstone Co., on the last day of their Spring sale.

They estimate it should arrive the end of next week or the beginning of the following week.

I got "the works" package with the rear heat shield, soapstone liner and the OAK. I chose the whitetail design since it is going in my hunting camp (my yurt). I chose the charcoal on charcoal colors.

REALLY excited! :)

That's awesome, wish you the best of luck with it, heard a lot of nice things about those stoves. Post some pics when you get it !

Oh yeah, there will be a lot of pics and videos coming. I also own a yurt forum and many yurt dwellers are unsatisfied with their current heating solutions. I promised them that I would be documenting everything. I always do that here too because this forum is an invaluable resource when it comes to fireplaces/stoves.

The forum is very valuable for stoves and hearth things, check out the DIY corner, lots of cool things going on there to

I too took advantage of the last day of the sale. My stove is scheduled to ship the first or second week in May[emoji1]

On order as well. Am undecided on colors yet. Was going with the dragons but may change that. We showed the design to our cats and the do not approve (darned cats). Need to get busy and decide what we want. Should be a nice upgrade for our 3000 sf house.

Sounds great jafo! Yeah I am still deciding (put down my deposit but didnt finalize colors and art yet). I'm surprised yours ships so soon! They told me June. The deer art looked great and being a hunter its a hard one to pass up. I may yet do that. But I have plenty of other outdoor interests that I will attempt to make something myself, but might fall back on one of those designs if I can't get it to look nice.

Steph, I loved the look of the black and gold stove with dragons I saw. Would be stunning if you had Asian decor in your house. Though I have some Asian interests like anime and manga, I don't really have any Asian decor in my house! I'm all country rustic here. Truth is I'd love to have an Asian inspired room... complete with indoor koi pond and everything. I thought too that many of the designs are great, but could effect resale if you decided to get rid of it later. Though they are removable though so I guess thats not a biggie.

The dragons are very nice, but our cats want a shrine to lay in front of. Don't dare disappoint the monsters.

They must feel threatened lol. Those dragon andirons with flames behind them do look pretty scary!

I have been in contact with them for a while so I think they basically had my order in there, I just didn't execute until Friday. Glad to see I am not alone on grabbing that sale! :)

I ordered mine last night, nearly the same as yours except I chose a custom image on the options. No idea when it's supposed to ship though.

I stopped at my friends warehouse to take a look before I pick it up tomorrow. The manifest says it weighed in at 740 lbs (packaging and all). So does anyone know where I can get a good deal on Wheaties?

Still have to trim out the hearth and actually put in the stove. That's next weekend. :)

Congrats on the stove! Remember your thread on your yurt setup. Looking forward to seeing an IS yurt install. It's gonna be...Intents!:p

I'm curious to see how the IS performs there. I've recommended a couple folks to install Keystone's in their yurt.

It looks like you have an outside air kit?

My sons and I, along with my brother got it on the pad last night. Going to finish up the install today and get it fired.

Can't wait to hear how this works out. Love the yurt!

Here it is. The first night it was 20f outside. The yurt got cold after about 7 hours with the damper on 50%. The next night, it got down to 28 and the yurt was warm for 10 hours at 2 clicks above 1/4. I have some tinkering to do with it. Right now, it seems like the fire goes out at 1/4 and the heat goes down (though slowly). When I get some colder weather, I will have more time to really dial it in.

Beautiful stove. Here are some pics of the final install and OAK:

You could probably improve draft by shortening the class A coming through the yurt wall off the tee. Then change the 90 out for a couple 45's with an offset piece.

I thought of that. Not sure if there is any issue with the draft at the moment, seems to work really well, except when I have the dome of the yurt open. For whatever reasons of pressure and thermodynamics, it messes up the draft.

I may switch to two 45's at some point.

For better draft you'll want that horizontal run to be as short as is safely possible.

Yes, that makes sense. The same thing can happen in a house when you open an upstairs window. The exhausting warm air creates negative pressure down below.

You don't want to run it at 50%. Way too much primary and secondary air. Even at 2 notches above 1/4 it is considered a high burn rate. You will have more success slightly under 1/4.

Close the bypass and slowly bring it down in stages to about 1 notch under 1/4. The box will go black and you should notice more heat coming out the front and top. Later in the burn you may get some secondary activity. Adjust it more or less as you desire.
I do know that above 1/4 you start eating wood much quicker.
