Beginning my Pre-buy hoarding. My Agway has Boreal softwood from Canada. I have only limited experience with softwood but wanted to burn more. AWF softwoods burned way hot. I have seen reviews on Boreal but from 8 or 9 years ago and the website only covers the horse bedding they make. The Agway I go to usually tries to avoid crap pellets.

I just picked up a few bags of these.. to get me to the end of a long cold winter. Got them at Agway as well. 6.20 a bag.. ouch.. I have burned LaCrete's, Canawicks and Cubex this year. Cubex is better than I remembered. Canwick has a great smell but dusty, dirty heat is ok. Lacretes were not worth the money. Not sure if it was a bad batch this year. Heat was okay. Fluffy ash and was easy to clean, maybe just expecting to much from a premium pellet. I will let you know how the Boreals do.

After 5 bags, at best they are a shoulder season pellet. Burns clean, ash is acceptable. Heat out put is not great. If I could get these for 4.5 bucks a bag, I would definitely burn during the shoulder season. My stove is a bit to big for the area and spends too much time on low. With these pellets not so much. But the price per btu is too much at $6 a bag.
