Not sure about the wood but man you get hot there in the summer! I would be a bit concerned about the load on your roof. It looks like you have it spread out over your beam but that end post doesnt look that solid. Youve probably put it there before though eh?

Looks like the post is at an angle but its not, its strong-somewhat. These houses out here are stucco boxes. Close the front door and the windows rattle on the other side of the house.
I brought all that wood home in 1 load filling a ford escort to the roof- in rounds. Guy that gave me fresh cut wood was amazed that I got it all in there (about 1/3-1/2 chord.) So its about 1000 lbs... Well rain isnt an issue here so it should loose weight quick!

Just add extra beams, just in case someone bumps into that outer post that looks bowed. And punky on the bottom.
What the heck...why not.
I think of mesquite and others like that as a specialty wood. I'd sell to a restaurant or something.
