BK Ashford smoke smell discovery

I'm liking my steel-hearted stove all the more. Flue temp rarely goes over 600F on startup and settles down quickly in secondary burn. The cast iron jacket has lots of time to absorb heat without affecting the convection from the stove body too much.

Only simpler >>. Jotul and BK did honor to the Alderlea, though Quadrafire and Napoleon had the first cast-jacketed stoves I think. The T6 has the most mass. It's a very heavy stove.

And their T5 model uses regulated secondary air which makes it a pretty good choice for a non-cat. The SS baffle plate is also a big benefit of the PE stoves.
 
The T6 now has regulated secondary air also with the new EBT. It works like a barometric damper on the secondary.

Thinking of retrofitting yours?
 
I've toyed with the idea, but probably not. I might do some manual dampering of the secondary next season as a test to see if there is a notable difference in burn time if I can rig up a manual valve without a lot of hassle.

Well i think that's important for people to understand and I didn't know this before I bought it. In some cases, these stoves will produce a smell if operated long, low and slow. And it was for this sole feature I went with this brand. In my case, set temp on tstat makes no difference. Even on high temps it wreaked from the front as it still does now.

Gonna just deal with it for now. I'm frustrated and tired. I've found that I just don't have the skills or patience to troubleshoot any further. Bring on summer.

Yes it is possible to run low and slow without a smoke smell. Period

Especially where I live the shoulder season is longer and we are warmer . I have burned low and slow without a smoke smell and I am currently burning low and slow without a smoke smell.

And I am pretty sure that Blaze King is working to make that a reality for everyone.

Agreed. I'm hopeful for a solution and anticipate their findings. Without this problem, the stove would just be perfect!
