I am researching what I need as far as vent pipe for my new freestaning Harman XXV pellet. I see M&G Duravent and Simpson Duravent when looking at websites, so is Duravent a namebrand or a type of pipe?

Yes. Looks like it's the same product with two different names.
Not sure if there were any design changes to make the two products incompatible...

Simpson bought duravent in 1982 and they in turn were purchased by M&G in 2010. You can see the history of the brand on their website here http://www.duravent.com/History.aspx. The different lines of venting produced are not compatible with each other, you can't use Pellet Vent Pro, with regular Pellet Vent or with older discontinued lines because they use different end connectors.

And make sure you seal the seams on anything inside your house with tape or Hi Temp RTV. It is guaranteed to leak by design

Don't waste your money on PVP because you will need to seal it again anyway.
At 1/2 the price, the PVL standard duravent pipe and a tube of RTV (or tape) will work just fine.

Regular Pellet Vent (non pro) is not rated for multifuel or corn use. If you are burning anything other than regular wood pellets you would need Pellet Vent Pro.
