I'm the oldest of six and my parents kept the spark alive long enough for this 50 year-old to have a 25 year-old brother. Against my strong advice he decided to take this project on himself with some friends. My contribution was giving him a week off and trading in some favors to arrange for trucks to run between his house and the firewood processing plant behind my building. Thankfully, everyone is safe and no damage was done to utilities or houses. I'll have Maple coming out of my ears for years to come.

Yikes! Power lines and houses means I call a professional. Of course, when I was in my 20s, I probably would have given it a go...

How much did that man lift cost to rent? How high would it go? How stable was it when elevated up high?

I have a large oak in the middle of the side yard and one oak in the middle of the back yard plus a few along the rear yard / tree line that I am thingking about topping and dropping. I could also pressure wash the house and never have to touch a ladder.

We had a 60' JLG lift at work for the last month. That sucker weighed 30,000.

Sorry for the delay. It went to 50' and cost just under $1K for the week according to the maniac that rented it. Regarding "stable" he said it was, but I question his judgement pretty much across the board and take that with a grain of salt.
