This is some of the branche's that I cut off an old oak in my uncle's front yard. IMAG0324.jpg IMAG0322.jpg IMAG0321.jpg

Something from the white oak family but the end of the leaf is too deeply cut to be a bur oak, something common here. Maybe it is a real white oak, Quercus alba.

+1 white oak , maybe swamp oak. That second pick looks like the end cut of walnut

This isn't for firewood, until it's dead, way too much sentimental value. Last summer some leaves were drying up and dead, he's been wondering if it has some kind of disease.

bur oak
Dark brown heartwood is consistent with bur oak. Bur oak leaves are variable. Epicormic growth (1st pic) consistent with bur oak too. Last year I got about 2.75 cord of bur oak limb wood that looked like this.
Got acorns ? Bur oak has huge golf ball sized; swamp white oak (and English oak) acorn attached to twig on a peduncle (stalk).

Are all of those pics 100% from the same tree?

Yes, very same tree. It will be a few days before I get back over there. I'll see if there are any acorns left. These leaves are not full grown for this year, yet. Maybe, a mature leaf will help with the ID? Thanks for the help.
