Me and my niece went for a nice drive in the bush to collect some firewood (2015/16's wood)

Nice load of Fir & Larch.

My niece next to the biggest Tammrack av ever seen. 20" bar on the saw for reference.

Fir (I think, am no expert) Nice, straight and dead. Bark just falls off.

Glad you guys are getting out in the woods. Family time is important. Nice haul! Big arse tree for sure. Ive told myself that I cant get any more wood until the deck is stained!

Thanks. That's the second load out of that patch. No cell siginal for miles, The niece likes to knock the bark off the rounds and has no worries with loading the truck. Just great.

That big arsed Tamrack is starting to die up high. Maybe it's time is up.

You have time for one last load. It's one less load next year. Get it while the weather is good!

Got another load from that patch today, Managed to fit it in Between trips with the wife blah blah.

2/3 cord split into 1/4's. All the bark off. MM'ed between 25-30% on freshly split 1/2's.

Worked my saw a little to hard, some smoke from the clutch when it jammed up. Got her back into the logs thou. Just rips through the wood. Freshly sharpened chain. Lethal!!!

First coat of stain is on the deck so wood getting is on the horizon. Nice to have that at the house eh? Money in the bank.

Yeah I have stacked it at my friends place.

No more room at the inn.

I'm in the wrong part of BC to find Larch. It was hard enough to find when I lived in the South Okanagan, but know I'm one valley over to the West and there is no Larch at all around here.
Curiously, there are no while tail deer either, just mule deer. If I hop back over to the East one valley in the Okanagan I can find a few Larch and a few white tail deer, and it seems the further East you go from there the more larch and white tail deer you'll find. I wonder if there is a relationship?

All kinda tails here, Black, white, mule deer. Everywhere !

Loads of larch here as well. Although large stands like in the first pic are not so common. Preverbal forest of the stuff in and around that patch.

This is part of the 'new patch' Bounty, Bark off.

1.5 cord I guess.

Left is all Tamarack and the right is 90% Fir.

Plenty more to come. Never have enough.

It's that time again. Back to me patch.

Bass-Ass 500hp truck just dragged another one off the pile.

Have over 3 cord CSS already with room for another 2 1/2.

Looks good Rossco! Did that tree fill half the truck stacked?

Cheers.

Yeah I got Two full rows then just threw the rest in as I got tired (Hard frikin work as you know) I left 1/3 of it ready for my next adventure.

The rather large tree I was after is still up there, I was cutting my way through some pine / spruce to get my chain on the big tree, trapped the saw real good, managed to break the saw free and that big tree shifted, near got me. Dangerous this wood game so I opted for the smaller tree you see pictured.

I predict another two seasons worth of wood just in that spot. The only place I've visited this year so far.

Yup hard work for sure. I hate pinching the saw. I did that on a larch this year but was able to use some leveraging to get it out. No scary shifting for me thankfully. Play safe! I know where there is a monster green larch that came down in the fall if you want directions, still there as of a few days ago. To big for me.

Oh hard work for sure. Worth it thou.

The saw was pinched in another tree that I was cutting to clear. I had to break the tree to free the saw and the whole lot shifted including my bounty.

Message coming your way mate.

Well. Some inside info from a friend and fellow Buring enthusiasts has landed me some rather nice Wood.

Gravity was my friend with this load.

Shodda packed my 24" bar. 20" on the saw.

10 rounds filled the truck.

Busted it all to pieces with my X25 Fiskars.

Well I decided to build a 3 chord firewood shed to store all my 'Extra' bounty.

All reclaimed or salvaged wood. Nothing purchased apart from a few screws.

'Wood' have been built ages ago if I wasn't constantly distracted by the view.

Should be done by the end of the week. Getting the itch to go gather more wood.

All surrounded by giant Yellow Fir's.

Wow is that the view from your place or from the scrounge spot? Could stare at that all day....

That's the view from the Wood shed.

I wish it was my place. IDE have a nice Linwood Prow house built there with elevate deck among the canopy. The acerage belongs to a real good friend about 5 mins from my home.

I can snap some pics from my usual patch. Just amazing views although a little remote.

Great pictures! Im just seeing this thread. Oh...its so beautiful there!
Cant believe how all the trees are so perfectly straight.
You should keep sending us pics....

Oh she's a beautiful part of the world. One reason I moved here

Anyhow, time for a Silver-Back me thinks. Standing dead, bark off, I imagine 12-16% MC right off the saw.

27" across the butt.

This is the haul I got the other day. Now that's what you call 'Firewood'

Is it possible? Even if I turned the meter upside down IDE still burn it.
