I got 2 really good prices on new stoves the harman is 200 more then the quad. Which is a better stove? Anyone that has these unit out there please chime in.

While the XXV is priced pretty high, you'll be hard-pressed to find a quieter, better looking pellet burner, IMHO.
Others may chime in here...

I can get the e2 enameled for $3700 or the xxv enameled for $3900.

Both are good units. I have a 2 year old XXV and love it. I think the most important thing is your dealer and what kind of support they provide. You cannot beat a good dealer who stands behind their product and is available when you need them.

After owning an operating models from both brands, they are both high quality and reliable. The harman is just better. Ease of use, the way the lids open, cleaning, it's all just slightly better in my opinion. Mostly little things.

Both are great stoves, but I think the E2 is quieter. The prices you quote are flat out awesome for both. You'll be happy with both and warm.

Those are very good stoves but after working on both, I really like the Harman P61a or the Quadrafire CB1200 FS stoves. Both are much easier to clean and cheaper to fix. While there is no enameled cast iron these heavy steel stoves can be much more easily repainted to look like brand new after a few years and will not cost as much new!
I currently have 2 P61s and 1 CB1200
See pics just my 2 cents

Pic 1 - Quadrafire CB1200 in Shed - "The Classic Bay" -- 47,300 BTUs
Pic 2 - Harman P61a in Garage/Workshop -- 61,000 BTUs
Pic 3 - Harman P61a in Basement - Heats whole house -- 61,000 BTUs

P.S. I still have the Quad Contour in the shed with the original Pie Warmer compartment for up to a 10" pie!!!

so is the xxv loud then? I really like the fact that you don't have to shut the stove off to clean the burnpot with the harman. It looks like you might have to do that at least once a day with the e2. Although the e2 has cast iron on most of the major parts.

ok Don, you have good points too. For the person who is looking for the prettiest stoves out there, most would agree the cast are nicer. I love the Classic Bay, its a workhorse, but if you want a piece of furniture, the enameled cast stoves are the ticket.
rdubs- No the XXV is not really loud, nor are any of the Harmans or other Quads, but the E2 and AE Mount Vernons are super quiet. For the prices you said, both are a great heater.

thanks for the replies and comments. It will be going in my living room so the wife want the cast stoves. I am trying to get the xxv down to the quad price let you know what I can do

well if you do, that would be the better deal.
