picked up a used 2006 xxv

went and took a look at a used Harman xxv yesterday, and ended up taking it home. its seen its fair share of pellets ran through it, and it was a bit older model than I would like, but overall seems in good shape. $1600, think I did ok?

so, with it being a 2006 I was wondering if anyone had any idea what changes they have made to this model over the years? I know the chain drive was replaced with direct drive, is it possible to convert this to direct drive? any info on this or other changes or updates that may be possible would be great. things to look for, etc. thanks!

don't see any holes near the auger on the burnpot if that's what you mean. just tearing into the stove now...there is rtv silicone everywhere on this thing! is that how they built them back then or did someone get carried away? I don't have anything like that on my 2012 p68. chain and sprocket look ok, but theres a tensioner, or guide that looks pretty worn. doesn't turn, and not sure if it is supposed to. what exactly is the feeder body air bypass? I also noticed that the intake doesn't have a flap on it. isn't that supposed to help prevent a burn back into the hopper? the hopper and feeder plate looks like its seen some abuse. my guess is that he had bridging problems and was poking at it with something metal...it also looks like there is some black crud by the bottom of the hopper and feeder plate. could that be burn back? maybe he had sprayed something in there. I will try to get more info on that. theres even silicon on the seems of the hopper, is that normal? the auger gearbox looks like it may be leaking. links to pictures below.

I think that hose might be installed. Can you see it in the pictures?
