No chit. And folks talk about the value of their time processing wood... >>

Changed the oil and tranny fluid in the car. Put more insulation in the attic. Stacked the wood that I split while running the Seafoam through. Dragged a blow-down beech tree out of the back 40. Adjusted the valves and rocker endplay on the motorcycle. Went on a short trip for work.

It's on the list.

Sheesh - you guys are worse than a nagging wife...:p

You do realize that list never gets smaller?

Yeah - I should really give it the respect it deserves. It's not "the list", it's "THE LIST".

All of this winter's wood is up and most of the following winter's. That takes a lot of the pressure off.

you< THE LIST...this never changes

No kidding.

THE LIST - can't burn it, can't rip it up, can't flush it, can't bury it, and if you throw it away it comes back better than a boomerang and longer than when it left...

check the muffler for crud, mouse house etc, restricted will run crappy too.

Yeah - I pulled the screen out and it looked good. Good thought though...

Looks like this carb doesn't have an aftermarket equivalent. B&S carb is 70 bucks. Might have to suck it up, since the time doesn't exist to monkey with it.

Make sure you don't have any intake/vacuum/gasket leaks.

If you do have a leak, it will be getting too much air, hence the need to cut down the air by using the choke.

Which flavor carb is on your Vanguard. I have most all Briggs service manuals, I'll send you the relevant bits.

I have also just been changing carbs lately. I was amazed Briggs and Straton even sells a plastic carb to replace the originals. Like $20

Not really sure. Here's some pics of the replacement carb:

There are some numbers in the last pic that I can pull off if that helps. Thanks.

Mine appears to be an upgrade. The fuel on/off valve is metal instead of plastic. Looks like they changed the bowl drain screw also.
