4 tons of pinnacle douglas fir and 2 tons of cleanfire pacific's. Douglas fir is for the coldest times and cleanfires in the spring and fallish times.

Never burned the douglas fir's though but we did only softwood's last year and I must say what a huge difference the heat level was and the amount of time I spent cleaning went down a LOT.

In the meantime, bring on the hot weather, winter can wait!

Nice they have them posted at 319 are they 309 delivered or did you pick them up yourself.
Pellets direct, uxbridge mass
Nice they have them posted at 319. Did you get them last month? Is that the price delivered or did you pick them up. Looks like we are both skipping the try before you buy!

Ya, it must have been 319, I bit the bullet at 319 I guess plus 59 delivery, still cheaper than most around here. Good buy at 299!!!

Yes it was a great buy and I almost didnt do it and wanted to wait for better pricing. At this point not seeing it around here.lowes has garbage supreme at in saugus for 279 w/o delivery. I actually posted a thread on June 3rd about the price and promotion that pellets r us was running on craigslist for blazers. They never posted the updated price on there actual site it stayed at 339. You needed tk call main number and reference the craigslist ad to get the price. I think you were on the thread and thought I was talking about easy blaze. I don't know how to copy and paste the thread to reference

Where did you buy and what was the price? Local Agway has NEWPS on "sale" for $275/ton and no delivery unless you buy 3+ tons. My house can't hold that much and I ain't paying that much for a middling pellet - I can get FSU's for less at HD.

Bogieb - I ended up getting them from mcmanus heating fuels out of barrington. Paid a few extra dollars for the deliver but his Douglas was 349, cheapest I could get up here unless I wanted to haul all 4 tons from mass....which doesn't save me much.

Agway out of Belmont can get Okies Douglas but they are 369 a ton.

The clean fires were 285 I think which was a fantastic burn for us last year, I paid 330 mid season too!

I bought a couple of tons of blazers,(douglas firs)

I have never seen Blazers state that their product is 100% Douglas Fir..
They have in their description, 100% natural wood product... and goes on to say
that they have incorporated Douglas Fir into their product.
If someone has read something from them that states they are 100% DF,
could you please forward it? I'd appreciate it...

If anyone made a 100% DF product, they would certainly brag on it..
The Olympus and Pinnacles that McManus has, has it on the bag..

I called west oregon wood products and they told me that the product is 100 percent df ( I know word of mouth isn't everything). I am in the process of emailing them to see if i get a different anwser in writing. Not sure what they say on the bag since I haven't received then yet. The website says pacific northwest douglas fir. As long as they burn as advertised and similar to reviews on this site I should be happy. 299 a ton isn't bad either. To bad McManus doesn't deliver to mass. Would have tried the pinnacles

The website says pacific northwest douglas fir.

See this is where I think it's a little 'unclear'.. It really doesn't say that..
The website says 'predominantly' Douglas Fir.. And any other species used is highly scrutinized.
It's up to you to define 'predominant'... I'm not going there..

Please don't get me wrong!! I am not slamming Blazers!! They are an awesome pellet!!
I would burn them any day.
But we found them to be similar in heat output to the better Northwestern pellets, like Lacrete, Platinums etc....
What I am saying is the opinion that they are 100% DF may be founded on people saying it so long
it has become 'fact'...

And if I were manufacturing a pellet that was 100% DF, I'd plaster it on the bag and descriptions..

Those that bought them for the same price as box store stock last year got one hell of a deal.
You will not see that again. I would have bought some for that price!!!
But if I was looking at a $310+ price tag for them this year,
I'd stick with the La Crete for $285.. or LG for $279..
But that's me...
If you are happy with what you use, no matter what brand,
that is the important thing..
And in full disclosure, yes, I do help McManus with their webwork,
and am an occasional yard rat, and lunch scrounge.... ;)

Not sure why you think that Dan? Blazers have been found at HD locations in New England for at least the past 5 heating seasons. In fact, they show up with a wider and wider distribution each year, last year they were found at HDs from, ME all the way down to PA - as reported on this very forum. Why do you think this year would be any different? Come September / October, I'm fully expecting to see the usual reports here from folks picking them up, just like previous years. Will they be $200/ton? No, those days are long gone. Looks like the low water mark this year at HD will be $269 in this area, but 10% off is real easy to do at HD so you're still getting a killer deal even if compared to $300/ton.

Burnt lacrete and lg last year about 15 bags each I thought the la crete burnt hotter. If blazer are comparable it would have come out to the same price for me. La crete are 359 for 1.2 ton wo delivery aeound here and I paid 299 for blazers. Don't get me worried now dan haha I hope these blazers burn hot in my stove already committed to three ton. Tell McManus to expand his buisness and sell in northern mass. I will be sure to purchase his 100 percent df product to compare to the Blazers I got this year.
