Other than processing, stacking, re-stacking, mowing, weeding, watering, etc... What have you been up to this summer so far?

We've managed to finally have a wedding reception, a compromise, wife got her big white tent, tables and chairs, caterer, etc... I got my pig roast, shorts, Hawaiian shirt, shorts and sandals, our friends and family got a great party.

Hiked 2.5 miles up a mountain to see the remnants of a B-18 bomber that crashed while on submarine patrol back in 1942. Crazy to think they could be so far off course, even stranger to hike up a mountain and see to big old radial engine on the side of the trail, connecting rods sticking out of it.

Couple of other scenic hikes, from 1 to 5 miles, trying to get into shape for a couple of nice fall ridge line hikes.

Plenty of paddling. Kayaking everything from class 2 rapids (not really intentionally, but turned out to be a blast and it sure beat carrying the boats around them) bogs, lazy rivers, and lakes.

Loving summer so far, hope the rest of you are as well!:):):)

Love this thread. My summer has been about building my new workshop in an old carriage barn on my property. New second floor added, windows, siding, electric, insulation, HVAC, wall board, and now preparing to epoxy coat the floor.

Also spent some time at the beach.

Geocaching.

Puttering around the house.

Going to the New England Forest Rally car race this weekend in the Bethel/Newry area.

Going to New Brunswick at the end of this month for camping/geocaching/hiking.

Geocaching?

When I am not on the water - I am running from it. Rain - rain - rain. And more coming. If I am not mistaken we set a record June and are on par to set a record July for rain.

I watched the most impressive heat lightning show I have ever seen, last night. Virtually no gaps in the show. I would post a vid, but at 100meg I doubt bossman would be happy about it.!!!

Have not seen real rain since mid-May here and none in sight for the next couple weeks at least. Some trees are starting to show the stress.

My summer highlight so far has been a Boston concert, two nights ago - been a huge fan for close to 40 years & finally got the chance. They did not disappoint - way to the contrary.

Guess I have my peace of mind now, and it was way more than a feeling. :)

We'll loan ya some. We are 13 inches ahead for the year since the first of June.

Slackin off the last two summer's. Very little new wood. So I got to get on it. Just put down 48 yards of bark mulch at the cabin. No grass mowing there. We are getting together with my kids and grand kids. Spending 4 days at my daughter's Jersey shore house.

Update . . . just got back from a camping/geocaching trip to Moncton, New Brunswick. Had a great time . . . except for the unplanned visit to the ER . . . but that's a whole other story . . . healthcare was great, just didn't expect to be hanging out in the ER on vacation.

It lasted more than 4 hours, eh Jake?

Hehheh . . . actually a little longer than that . . . and 6 hours in the ER . . . and ironically . . . you are in the right area . . . only I think it was a stone of some sort that I attempted to pass before it got blocked . . . all's well that ends well though . . . and fortunately no drastic measures (think catheters) had to be taken. :)

Ouch. Have not had that fun, yet. I'm sure my day will come.

Your post reminded me that Audie Murphy, a highly decorated WWII hero, died in an private plane crash on a mountainside a few miles from our house in Virginia in 1971.
I've hiked there several times but have never seen any debris. There is a nice memorial though. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/77/Audie-Murphy-Monument.jpg

I can appreciate this well. I've spent two July 4ths in the ER, one related to playground equipment and the other to a big bonfire (me burning something I shouldn't have).

Summer has been one of getting a used RV up to snuff, gardening, local travel, beer and wine making, education, more gardening, wood splitting and stacking, and visiting with friends. I'm happy to say that I have kept my body out of harms way so far but there are those garage gutters that need cleaning. ;hm
