Finally found a bin for the corn we use, I won't miss digging corn out of barrels and carrying it to the furnace.
Starting to feel lazy already as we can hook it up with an auger.
approx 75 bushels so fill it once and perhaps half full again mid winter and we will be good to go.

Actually it's on skids, Will set it at the end of the house outside nestled in a pine tree. Have an Auger to put it directly into Furnace from there.
When spring comes will just drag it into a storage shed we have. Bring corn home in a gravity box, Auger it into bin and it's a done deal, won't have to touch the corn by hand.
Paid $100 for it which is a fair deal for me.

You'll love it. I installed a 55 bu bin next to my outside burner. It auto augers corn into the burner bin. In the spring and fall fill once. In the middle of winter 3-4 weeks. Pull the gravity wagon around and auger in.

Just watch the snow forecast so your full before a big snow or big thaw. Otherwise tough to get the wagon around.

I'll need to fill it once in the fall and sometime mid winter. We burn approx 4 ton a year and this should hold 2 ton easily.
I don't burn straight corn we burn a ton of pellets in a season along with the corn so this should make the total process a lot easier.
My wife has a 20 lb lift limit and at times my Bursitis kicks my butt so we feel the need to automate things a little more than it is at this time. Hopefully this will let us enjoy the warmth of a corn stove for a few more years. The days of chopping and splitting firewood are behind us now and this is easier to deal with.

Wow , good deal!
If you can get another one for the same price you would be set for the winter!

Arti, since you're burning corn, do you ever toss in any chicken scratch to reduce clinkers? I've seen old timers use both crushed clam shells and calcium chloride to counter the effects of salts and sugars from corn but haven't ever tried it myself or seen the effects.

Looks good Arti. Any luck on replacing the SCF? I'm keeping my eye out for a Revolution, but they're few and far between.

Oyster Shells, Don't really need it if I mix abut 15 to 20 percent Pellets with the corn,. The pellets soften the clinker as it gets very hard and difficult to get out of the fire pot. Also feel that the shell wears on the auger because it is very gritty. only takes about 25 lbs a year.

I have 2 for sale in my area, one is older and not auto ignition so not really of much interest to me, The other one is owned by a game player, Made an appointment to go buy it and he kept changing the time (3 times) as his WIFE had made plans for him that he didn't seem to know about in advance. I suspect that she had set an appointment to have him hang with his buds and drink beer all day!!

So I kept his number and will contact him this fall and see if he is ready to sell it then. We will wait and see how it works out.

I suspect that a lot of stoves will be for sale this fall as oil and propain are cheap at the moment, I'm sure that will magically change after the politicians get elected Sigh. <>
