Recently received 3 cords of cut, split, stacked wood that had been stored in a barn for over a year for free due to a family friend who was moving. I was told there was some type of locust in the group. Never had any locust, but think the salmon colored wood in the pic might be honey locust but would like to confirm it. Also do you think the wood that was cut and split and immediately stored in a dry barn is ready to burn or will be by this fall/winter? Thanks again.

It does in fact look like Honey Locust. How long exactly was it split & stacked? Honey Locust is very dense, and will take around 2 years to season.

I looked at your picture before reading your story/description and thought many pieces were white pine.

Honey Locust......that's great long burning wood!
