Can't tell you what it is, but it looks like it has a poodle stuck in it! ;lol

FYI, poodles are low a BTU fuel, too much fluff

listing photos , i move in in two weeks. not sure thats a poodle but funny just the same

Might be a decent stove. Report back when you get in there, and can get better pics or maybe even the make/model.

When you get an up close look, can you take pic's of the inside? curious if it has reburn tubes, insulated blanket, brick or steel shelf

Might be a really good fireplace. I see vents so a heat exchanger is likely.

It looks like a unit we work on every other year but i cant remember the name. If it is the same unit it burns fairly clean and there are still parts available. When you get to the house look for an id plate if you say the name i will remember if it is the one i am thinking of

if i wanted to lower the mantle hight , what would be my options. would a insert or zero clearance work? the large brick work also seems a bit large for the room and a bit dated as well.

I am almost positive it is a zero clearance unit. And no an insert will not work

I agree, the scale does look off. But if it's zero clearance, does that mean its only a brick facade?

Yes, A ZC is what came to mind when I saw it. If so, the brick is likely a veneer on a conventional wall.

When you get in the house look closer for identification and post an interior shot of the firebox, especially if it has secondary tubes. Maybe check inside the door frame for ID too.

Thanks everyone for the info. Wife would love to eliminate the mantle so a flat tv would mount above.
That's not the best combo. The heat from the flush fireplace is not going to be electronics friendly. Maybe consider putting up a non-combustible mantel to act as a heat shield?

I've had my 42" bravia over my flush insert for 2 years now with no issues. It does have a full motion mount though, extends at least 18" away from chimney.

i agree even though I don't have a tv above my stove I check temperature of bricks with my ir thermometer and they are never too hot. I don't think that the cast iron surround trim piece ever got higher than 180f

No idea about the fireplace, but I agree the brick looks a bit dated. I would paint it white and put in a slate hearth. And paint the gold trim on the fireplace black with high temp paint. Lol just in case you wanted some design ideas rather than stove advice...

It looks to me like it may be a Kozy Heat. No personal experience with them, but I've heard good things. It would certainly look much nicer with a faux stone facade covering all but the door and grills.

Its a regency brand guys.

I removed a brick from the top so i could get a camera in behind the brick to haave a look. What i seen was a cinderblock wall right behind the bricks. Interesting.

Current thought is to rip it all down and install a gas zero clearance nice and tight to the exterior wall to give me some room

Now you've done it - Hersey! Gas fire place-- Off with his Head ( must be using some of those recreational chemicals)

i know gas right but its not to heat the house , just to take the chill out of the room when we watch tv in the basement. the guy next door told me the home builder had to come back and re-due the brick work as it broke the poured floor as toppled over .

hard to tell from the pictures but the bricks stand off the wall by 4' or so

Not a fan of a tv above a fireplace. You are constantly looking up. Not a very comfortable viewing angle. People do it all the time though.

Depends how far you are. But then again, I'm the guy that loves front row center at the movies.
