I need a small footprint stove to fit on an existing hearth. Tight budget and both of these would appear to be reasonable choices. Wife likes the more traditional look of the Pleasant Hearth stove better but she would go with either one. Opinions as to which is likely to be the better choice?
 
I have had my serenity for a year and a half and have not had a single problem. I never owned a pleasant hearth so all I know about them is what is posted on here and they seem to be an ok stove.The serenity is gonna be easier to clean and eats any pellet you feed it and Ardisam has excellent customer support.Hopefully some pleasant hearth owners chime in with some feedback.
 
Thanks for the feedback rich2500. The people who have the Serenity certainly seem to like them. I think part of my difficulty with this choice of stoves is that both of them seem pretty good.
 
Well I bought the Castle Serenity and I used a 15% off code at Ace Hardware. Picked it up today at my local Ace. Choice has been made, now I have all of August to install it.
 
Good deal hopefully your as happy with your serenity as the rest of us serenity owners, keep us posted on how all goes for you.
 
This stove was on my list of stoves to buy for my 960 sq ft home. I came across a review that stated that the stove never actually shuts off? It hits the temperature that you choose but then switches to low and keep running. Is this true?
 
Yes, it stays on low. It does not shut off. Saves the igniter. Uses minimum pellets in low and keeps the stove hot. Works well when it is really cold. Not shoulder weather.

These stoves are not always easy to get. There's a big demand and usually supplies go fast. Best pull the trigger early.
 
The Castle seems to be a decent stove for the price point. It does allow for adjustments to be made for better efficiency IIRC. Use the search box top right to find the threads.
