What is a good price for a BKA in the midwest? IM a Missouri guy and am leaning to an ashford with enamel coating. I have been hearing 3700. Does that sound right. The nearest dealer is a n hr away and most people dont know very much about these stoves. Ive also talked to several chimney cleaning guys who know very litle about these stoves. I really like the price and service from this local Quadrafire dealer but am torn to get the best stove I can find. My peoples consensus in the Blaze king in which ever variety you like. I dont however want to get screwed for not shopping around. I have called several stores in Indiana and Arkansas to get prices. What is a good price. thanks

To put things in perspective I bought a princess parlor last October for $ 2,900. The stove came with a leg kit, black door, black side rails. I had to pick the unit up from the dealer and install myself. I live on the east coast and this was bought in NY state were they tax wood heaters. I ended up buying a blower kit later on from a dealer online (was cheaper and had one in stock)

Just bought a pair of Ashford 30's, and did a good bit of price shopping. Standard pricing around here was $3500, plus $400 for the enamel upgrade, plus $300 for blower = $4200. If you buy them in pairs, you can get a pretty good discount. I think I paid $6300 for two with blowers.

NOt trolling at all.I think there was some miscommunication with that message that I forwarded that someone else had posted bout blaze king.I really want to give the bk a shot privided I get a good price.I have been quoted around 3700 or so.BK seems like it's a northern product with not much business in the Midwest.I don't like the idea of having to shell out 3700 and still have to go get the stove and pay to install it.I hope it's really as good as ya guys say it is.

Everybody take a deep breath.

Then I am deeply sorry that I misinterpreted your other post. I suggest next time you make it more clear that you are just posting the opinion of someone else. Unfortunately, it seems you picked the rant of someone who is notorious for bashing BlazeKing.

As for the price, it is unlikely that you will find much difference in the stove price. The installation will probably be the part where you can negotiate the most. Nevertheless, be careful that you don't end up with a bad job just because it was the cheapest offer.

No matter what you end up getting I'm sure it will work great for you. All new stoves work great, they have to be passed with a UL listing which means they have to go through testing and are declared safe with certain clearances and meet certain epa air rules.
I started off burning a Country Hearth 2500, It work great, burnt wood like a champ, unfortunately it didn't last though, I only got 2 1/2 years out of it before it started to (and I mean literally) fall apart.
Reading through this forum and naturally being attracted to new products that everyone raves about helped me decide on the BK Princess, for myself I'm glad I went the route I did, the princess works as advertised. In my own opinion it was one of the best buys for me last year, I got awesome heat out of it, and I was able to conserve wood with the longer burn times.
I use a 12ft x 4 1/2 single wood rack, with the old stove I would get about 10 days out of that rack, with the bk I got 3 weeks out of the same rack. I had better inside temps to, the heat curve was gradual but once the house hit 72, it pretty much stayed at 72 due to the longer burn times and consistent heat, the old stove would heat the house, but it seemed like I was always chasing the temp, it would get really hot, then would cool off pretty fast (if I plotted my inside temps it would look like my 401k, up and down) The burn times were such an improvement to, I went from 6-7 hours per load to +12 hours a load, and when I needed more heat I would simply turn the t-stat air setting and the stove would burn hotter (of course I sacrificed burn times with running it hotter, but it was worth it)
Long story short, the BK is an awesome stove, and changed the way I think of wood heat, but like I said from the beginning, any new stove today is pretty much a good stove, the BK just stands above the rest in my opinion and is worth every extra penny.

Maybe you and your family can become BK Dealers, Then you can get the best price on the unit and the install shouldn't be an issue since you have people that do that already. Then you'll open up a whole new market in that part of the country. I would have bought a New BK but it was too tall to fit in my 26" high opening.. from the research I did before buying the BK's are the Best, too bad they were a few inch's too tall :( So I went with the Beast :)

Not a bad idea. I love wood heat and wood stoves.I also do have extra time as I mostly work night shift on weekends. Is there any money to be made on selling stoves?I also think I'm fairly knowledgable about the newer pea stoves as I have a jotul now.

The place in Middle Tn where I bought my stove was a Fireplace store. They have been in business since 1975ish, all they sell is woodstoves and fireplaces (im sure more woodstoves) they were building on a showroom that is bigger than their existing building.. Business seems pretty good :) and I had to drive 125 miles one way to get there..

So what exactly is your plan here? You made it perfectly clear that you hate cat stoves, Blaze King in particular. I really don't get it? Maybe you should just get a nice quadra-fire?

Im still not sure on what to do.I have a great local dealer who would give me a great price on a quad explorer three for 2400,most places want 3000 for that stove.I believe everyone on the cat stoves. How well do you like you ashford

Why do you now believe it? You were in such disbelief a few days ago? Quit adamantly!

I love my Ashford! My Blaze Kings have blown away every other stove I've used by a long shot. I've had lots of non-cat stoves, a few cat stoves and a high-end hybrid. Nothing has even come close to touching the burn times of a BK!

I must agree with all said here, I love my BK more than my Vermont Castings, and I say that considering the issues I have had with a smoke smell with the BK. The company has tried working with me to make it right. I think that for most people, the stove will not present with these issues. I have concluded that some users who have a chimney with a minimum height, perhaps with turns in it, on a mild climate should prepare to smell smoke in their homes. The stove works just as indicated, but you will smell smoke. I get spillage on hot reloads and sometimes it emits a bad odor. Would I buy a different stove? No, I just think it's important for people to know my experience.

I get a very occasional (a few times per year) smoke smell from one of my Ashford 30's on mild days at very low burn rates. This is the stove on a chimney of probably less than 15 feet. My other Ashford 30 is on more than 25 feet of pipe, and never emits even the slightest hint of smoke, even burning on 65F days at the lowest setting. Chimney height matters, when you're pushing the limits on low burn rate.
