Some kind of hickory?
 
The bark threw me also let's have some end pics and splits if you would
 
The first picture is clearly Black Locust. The second picture I can't tell what it is. Is it the same log?
 
Sap wood on the second pic looks too white to be black locust IMO. Could be wrong tho
