Black Walnut maybe???

Apparently so. Decent stuff, a little above Cherry BTU.
 
Walnut for sure.

It burns OK. It does leave a lot of ash. I would mix it with something else.

No other wood in North America is as bark as Black Walnut, plus the whitish sapwood is distinctive.
 
Mulberry heartwood dries to a similar color. +4 on the walnut tho.
 
Yup +5. I burn a lot of it.
