does any one have a suggestion for a good log splitter? be it electric or gas, like to keep my cost down around 2 or3 hundred??? wondering what people use, and what is a good product to look at. thanx

yea Mike , I was there once, so you got your Dr splitter...like it? And how long have you had your Ryobi? and has it held up good for you? both electric right?

I only bought the DR, and don't have a Ryobi. I like the DR, it splits 95 percent of what I have on the woodpile. I have a 25 ton Honda taking up space in the garage, I might get rid of it seeing as the DR does almost the same job. So long as you are not cutting stump chunks or elm knots, you should be fine with an electric... and they take up so much less space than a gasoline model.

I was wondering if the electrics actualy had enough power! i have mostly cherry, oak, maple....I also get a wide mix of wood from the county, when we clean up storm damage and such. that is one benefit of working for the county....plenty of free wood !! i also have about 26 acres that I pick off from. so hey thanks for thought !

Just received my 6 ton DR Thursday with all the goodies...table, wood tray, etc. Man, I am really impressed with the quality. Am splitting different kinds of woods with knots, no knots, green, seasoned, etc. so that I can write a short report on it to all interested. Will get back soon with the report. Have a BIG bbq cater going out Tuesday and it's killing me. As soon as the cater is over, I'll write back.
