Gotta love a good burn with a cup of coffee. This weather definitely give me the itch also.

Bought a new road bike.. can't seem to get off it long enough to buck and split. I'm two full years ahead, so I guess I can wait for cooler weather.

BC - how you making out with that NC30 install? Did you figure out a solution going through the roof? Just wondering brother, FYI - this morning I was enjoying the dry crisp air on my porch also, no fire though. Maybe I'll get my pit going Friday night.
Thanks for asking kennyp! I haven't started the install yet, as I spent last weekend building up the new hearth pad and some ledge stone that the wife wanted to put on the wall. Going to make a mantle out of some slabs from a log as well. I'm taking a week of vacation next week from work, so I'll probably start the install then. I'm using the 12" DuraTech ceiling support box and it will be roof supported, much like one would do with a mobile home install. That part of my roof is only 2/12 pitch, so it should be fairly easy to make a level and square cut for the support box with my sawzall. Since the Insulite panels are only about 6" thick, I'll have plenty left over to cut the top corners and bend the excess over to make 'ears' to screw into the roof for mounting. I've got 6 1/2' of stainless DuraTech pipe and the pipe support kit, which will get me up to about 18' in total. I'm using double-wall DVL stove pipe. I'll see how that drafts, and I can always add another 2' section if I need to. Looking forward to getting it done and having the break-in burns!

I installed a nc30 at my buddies house 3 years ago, ran a 6" non insulated liner approx 15ft. His drafts ok, the colder outside the better the draft. You should have any problems with 18ft dvl And insulated liner, you may see a little sluggish smoke when temps are in the 40's and you do a cold start up, but it shouldn't be a real problem once it's winter cold out
Good deal - and reassuring. I'm going with double-wall DuraTech stainless pipe from the connecting box up, so I should be good to go. I'll post some pics once it's in place.
