Hate to ask and have been searching but my local Menards has one Drolet Myriad left for 599 . Seems like a great price but I am only heating my new 500 ft addition and with a little circulation my attached trailer. Total about 900 sq ft. Will the Myriad be over kill and under fired ?

Yep, I would consider it overkill unless you have barely any insulation at all. A stove with a firebox of ~2 cu ft should be adequate. Can you get the Pacific Energy True North in your area? That would be about the right size and still less than $1000.

For the Myriad: You could snap it up and sell it in 2 months for probably $800 to $900.

I wont have much insulation. The whole room is mostly glass windows with a cathedral ceiling . I can get an r- 11 in the little bit of wall I have and probably only put r-19 in the ceiling . We only use it 4-5 weekends a year in the winter .

For the most part you would be running it with partial loads of fuel and letting it burn out. On those -10 windy days it might be just right.

Would that be a bad thing , partial loads and burning out ? As long as I keep my chimney clean I should be ok right ? We hope to pull the trailer out in a year maybe two and build a 1200 sq ft cabin in front of the room addition. Figured it would be perfect for 1700 sq ft as long as I can use it at low capacity for a while. There web site says for 500 ft to 2000 I think.

Being in Wisconsin and a poorly insulated home, I say go for it! You can always sell it for at least that!

Say you only sell it for $300. Good heat and a couple years of use for a few hundred dollars? heck of a deal.

Yes, given you plan to expand it may work out ok as long as you don't want 24/7 heating in milder weather. Doesn't sound like it. Note that this could be the older Myriad with the welded in stainless baffle. The newer models have gone to a replaceable baffle.
