The 5 acre property next to me recently sold and the new owners logged out some of the larger maple trees. He told me I am free to take whatever I would like that is left standing or piled. Looks like I have some work to do! This is the pile I started on. Have about 1/3 of it left to cut and haul. There's mostly ash maple and walnut on the property. This should get me three years ahead on wood now, maybe more! ImageUploadedByTapatalk1440724984.528704.jpg

Great!

Very nice score!

To the left of where the picture is taken still has a bunch of standing trees. He said they are still waiting to drop about 40 more trees.

Love the long commute to get wood.. Got two trees from next door neighbor myself.Didn't even have to start the truck. Nice score!!

Nice score...!!!

nice score
looks like they took the saw logs and left the rest

Dayam, that's a good score. How many cords you think that is? Cant really tell from the pic, but I'd say no less than 10?

Just discovered that small camping park about 1/2 hour drive from me has 1100 acres they are developing into camping sites. Excavator on site to clear all the stumps etc so you can just back in and cut all day. Somebody pinch me...

I. Hate. You. JEALOUS!!!!!! Seriously, that's the best score I've seen in a LONG time. I'm lucky to get the occasional half rotted cherry tree or tulip poplar where I'm at. I have plenty of national forest land near me, but I'd love some ash, walnut, and maple. Good on ya!

Man.... this is what dreams are made from, absolutely awesome score.

Sweetness!

Nice score Mike. Now that a bit of time has past you should update us on how the harvesting has been going. Pictures would be good!

Well I got through a decent amount of what was in the original picture....

Then I came home one day to find a guy with his tractor cutting and loading 8 foot logs into his dump trailer. Needless to say it didn't take him longer than a weekend to clear out what was left of the pile. This is what I have so far. I was able to drop a few maples and ash trees to add to my pile. The pile is currently as deep as it is wide. I'll have to stack it to get an idea how much wood is there.

Looks like 5.655 cords from my house. Let me know what it stacks out to.
