Sorry if it's the wrong place, but I get these ads now on the screen from shopping assistant that block 1/4 of the screen -

You probably have a bug that got installed by accident. If you are using Chrome, you can add a pop up blocker app. for free.

Mike if I were you I would download malwarebytes install it and update. Boot your computer into safe mode, and run malwarebytes. Also reset your browser's to default settings.

You may want to try "Add Block Plus" in the future. it's a free download and basically stops all intrusive advertisements from loading up on just about any web page.

I'm running 64 bit Windows 7 with Internet Explorer 11 and ABP. It's been working great.

I think I got it - I had adblock installed, theres a tab you can click on that says "block an ad on this page" this seems to have fixed it. It was only on the windows with Safari, not on this mac with Safari - Odd - Cooler weather is just around the corner - Last year I lit up the Garn about 10/1 I miss the smell of woodsmoke..............

I don't think I have any ad-blockers installed, still running XP & IE8.

I'd still do that Malwarebytes thing if you haven't yet. I used the free version for quite a while then sprung for the paid version last year after I got nailed with something really ugly (cryptowall or something like that) - surprising what it can turn up the first time through a computer, no matter how careful you use it.

Good advice here, as usual - The shopping network ads came back, so I went with the free malwarebytes - 161 items removed, computer now clean, thanks all -

I have no idea what the state of the art is, I surf with a puter that is expected to get dirty and exposed. It's not a clean machine. The only way to do that is to install a new hard drive and reload the OS on the dirty PC, run a second machine that does no web surfing or email..

I run Avast, Privacy Badger, and Ghostery on Chrome, just accidentially, not knowing what they do. Privacy Badger is pretty cool and will show you the long list of who tracks your every click.

The web still knows it me. Trust me, if I'm planning a fishing trip, the banner ads will show bass boats and fishing poles. The web is the expert system.
