My buddy up the hill just got a log truck load of rounds, time to get my saw and splitter out. This is for next season, looks like ash, maple, beech and some oak mixed in, this will be my 5th log truck load of the season to work, it helps with my addiction image.png

Stuff looks real good,it's been cut down for a while, nothing really green, I can't wait to cut and test pieces with my moisture meter

Lots of beech in there, nice!

Logs that size will take a LOONG time to dry out in that form.. they're probably still quite wet inside.

I know, I'm just curious, it should be a good test run, when we start to work the pile I will post the moisture meter readings, even if it's ready to burn he's still not going to use it, he has 4 cord of 3 year oak stacked in the wood shed ready for this year.

A friend of mine got a log load about a month ago and I spent an afternoon helping him cut. It's a different kind of cutting than I'm used to, because it's just flat out cutting! No limbs, no moving brush, just cutting. I was cutting, and he was loading the rounds into his truck and moving them to his splitter. I burned three tanks of gas in no time at all.

Between my buddy (saw Husky 460) and my (Husky 359) both 20" bars, we can knock that pile out in 4-5 hours, theres probably around 6 cords in there, average round size between 20" -28" diameter.
I know this because I have had a lot of practice with these log loads this year, this is my 5th truck of the season.

We got the majority cut into logs yesterday, have 3 lengths left but out of room, the plan is next Sunday get 3 log splitter on this and go to town.

After cutting rounds up I hand split a couple, you are absolutely right, they looked good in length form but once sending the maul through a round you can see how wet they still are.
