When replacing the rope door gasket on your stove, do you prefer any specific high temperature gasket sealant? The one I have resembles furnace cement and I'd like something flexible for the door gasket with the highest temperature rating possible?

Also available in a smaller home- sized tube. The tube is plastic. The liquid part tends to settle out when on the shelf a long time. Mush the ingredients around a lot before opening to mix completely.

Thanks for the feedback. Found it locally. Seems like a better way to go than the silicone rated for 600 degrees.

Most stove makers use silicone these days. If that door frame gets to 800 degrees, where any 100% silicone goes "poof", then the gasket is the last thing you are going to be worrying about.
I just replaced my door gasket on my Drolet 1800 insert. The kit SBI sent sent contained a new gasket and Nuflex 302 silicone sealant. The tube was solidified (I waited a year to get around to it) and I ordered a new tube online. I assume they used that from the factory and it was a nightmare to remove. So it held up really well.
My local lowes has Imperial High Temp Silicone sealant in the pellet stove section and I hear that works good as well.

I like the black high temp silicone. Stays flexible and won't burn out. Like said, if you get temps on the door high enough to burn it off you got some major problems.
Caveat emptor, some silicones bake to rock hardness under the normal door heat. Permatex Blue being one of them. That stuff is the hardest material I have ever chipped out of a gasket channel.
