Western Mass.
But you would never know it by the radar!
Went on a fuel run this morning - pellets for the shop, and gasoline for the car and snowblower.

Bunker mentality is setting in, which is funny because even when we get 2 feet of snow up here, it is always about 5 hours after the snowfall and then things are normal again! (everyone digs out REAL quick around here)

Nothing down towards Cape Cod either... I'm counting the minutes until it starts coming down. Tonight will be my first fire with a steady snowfall outside... perfect!

Snowing like crazy here, no one slows down on the interstate, so we're busy at work today. Comes in waves, quiet for half an hour then all hell breaks loose. Got the chains on the vehicle, was lazy last night and didn't take them off after running up on the hill for a load of wood. I'll have a nice 2 or 3 hours of snowblowing tonight, by tomorrow the roads will be just wet. Still waiting on the "big one" this weekend, see what happens.

Raining pretty hard here in the Pineys, a cord of wood sits on the porch, all dry, and headed to the store for provisions.

It started here about 10:30 AM and it is now coming down fairly hard. We have accumulation and are on the way to a big one! I have enough wood inside to make it through this weekend when the second storm is due to whach us New Englanders. We are a hearty lot and we will be having a White Christmas. After that, I can go for some cold, so I can burn my stove, but they can keep the snow....

Minutes away from you Craig, its snowing in Hartford

We have 3.5" now, got 1.5 in the hour since our last measurement. It's that nice fine powder that blows everywhere, coming down good and hard. Can't wait to get home and have some fun!

Well, it's a start.....

Another hour and a half here, then I can test my new diamond-pattern tire chains on the way home. I can almost hear my snowblower running now.....

Eric, what ski area is that? Looks like that lift is closed. Probably be headed to Herkimer sometime soon to visit their 911 center, would love to bring my board and hit the mountain for an afternoon. I love it up there, we have friends in Gloversville, my sister-in-law went to Fulton-Montgomery College for a year. You definitely get more snow than we do down here.

That's McCauly Mountain in Old Forge. I don't think they've opened for the season yet, but it won't be long if this keeps up. I'm down in the Mohawk Valley today, and we're starting to get clobbered. Hopefully the ground has set up a little more over the past couple of days. Last time I tried to XC ski, it was pretty wet most places.

4" and coming down real fast now - stating to look a little heavier in weight since it is mid-day.
Based on radar, I would not be surprised to see 10" here, and Harley (higher in the hills) may see a foot or more.

I'll have to fire up the 'ole POS plow truck for sure when I get out of work... '88 Trooper.... no brakes, no exhaust, barely a clutch, frame rotted, body rotted, gas tank leaking... but it runs like a champ

Brakes....who needs stinkin brakes?

Yeah, Eric - Old Forge. Right about now they are ready to close down the water park for the season. As long as it is over 40, those hardy upstaters keep swimming.Cold? really only cold in Saranac Lake when it is about 5 and the wind hits 3-40 MPH. Other than that, it is like today - just beautiful!

Was just outside - takes 10 minutes to shovel for the little girl (dog) to take a dump. I did (shovel) and she did (dump).
About 10 inches now.

We have about 7 inches of snow so far. Still snowing hard so we are
expecting more before it's over.

Have not had time to post earlier today because I was traffic jammed behind 100 and one idiots who didn't have a clue how to drive in the snow.
I still can't believe those fools took 1 and 1/2 hours to drive 3/4 of a mile at less that one mph.
I went down that same stretch of road in 4 minutes at 10 am. It started snowing at 10:10 am,
really really hard.

By the time I got out of the gas station, as they had a long line of cars, filling up in front of me; at 10:35am,
there was 1 inch on the road & the idiot florida drivers had turned it into a 3/4 mile long parking lot.

I went to fill four 2.5 gal gas cans for my unregistered plow truck, only for use on the private road I own.

I finally got home at noon with about 3 1/2 inch of snow on the ground, from what should have been a 4 minute ride.

I turned my engine off 12 times & listened to 2 or 3 songs on the radio, each time, while waiting to move 1 car length.

unfortunately for me , my tires have good tread everywheres except the one inch on the bottom that actually touches the road, where there is rubber but no tread. Not the red car, the 1998 honda civic daily driver. The red celi would have flown up any of those hills, but I wont drive it in snow when a old clunker is available, instead.

I tried two steep hills to attempt getting onto untraveled side roads, but ended backing down both
because of lack of traction 1/2 ways up & had to back down the hill to the level but unmoving parking(lot) road.

That will teach me to drive in a blizzard with" bald only where it really counts" tires.
Time for 4 new tires, next week, I think.
I didnt get stuck, but I just couldn't make it up really really steep hills.

Anyway, now it is 6:20 pm, 7-8 inch snow & expecting at least another 2 & 1/2 hours more snow.

A good 10 inchs ,I think, drifting to 12 or 14 in places.

Well, at least I have gas for my plow truck now & i blew up the flat rear tire & stuck the battery charger on so it will start tomorrow.
Next, I need to see if my toro 8/26 snowblower will start on last winter's gas. I may need to drain the tank & put in fresh gas. Or worst yet, pull off the carb bowl & clean out the gummy varnish with carb cleaner.
One of these years, I 'll remember to drain the fuel out in april. It just seems easier to clean the carb bowl, once you know how. ;-P
I dont know what it is about conn drivers, they see one snow flake & stick their cars in low 1
with the emergency brakes locked full on, just to make sure thay can't exceed 1 mph. :grrr:

Call it a foot of the fluffy stuff. Of course just finished the driveway just in time to see two plows shove it all back.:(

Need to clear the "upstream" side of the driveway away from the road, then the plow doesn't push it back across the driveway. See attached horrible drawing.
