This is my third year with the VC montpelier. My question is how to remove the fan assembly for cleaning. I tried last season but couldn't seem to pull it out the whole way. Is it just removing the 4 screws? or is there something else holding it in? when I removed the ash lip first, and then the 4 screws, it still seemed to be held in, and I didn't want to force it out? What am I doing wrong. Any advice from VC monte owners would be helpful.

Thanks,
MikeD

I had to remove mine in the past because the switch failed a few days after I first installed the unit. I have the hearth extension kit which may differ.
Once I remove the lower doors and 4 screws it pulls out but there is quite a bit of resistance before it frees up. I have leveling screws on each side of the unit. Using these to raise the unit lessens the resistance.

Hope this helps.

I had to raise mine with the levelling feet to slide it out

+1 on lifting it up. I use a flat bar to lift each side, then slip in a scrap of wood - rather than messing with the leveling bolts.
