When you're burning daily (coming soon), this won't be much of a concern.

At first, it looks like you have a cat in the stove.

I get birds in mine every spring. I started stuffing a rag in the T of the chimney which has worked well.

I haven't gotten them in there once I start burning and I am an occasional burner.

The largest problem is that the birds tear up the insulation blanket on the top of the stove.

The stove store sent a guy out to put a screen on my chimney. We mainly burn in the evenings. Only a few burns so far this year but probably ramping up to nightly very soon. Was the screen overkill? Should I worry about creosote?

Birds in your Oslo shouldn't be a problem as long as they're properly seasoned. Starlings and sparrows season pretty quickly (in less than a year), but Canada Geese, on the other hand, may take several years to reach 18-20% moisture content. ;lol

Why would you hate birds? Thats pretty strong feelings towards things as harmless as birds

Praps you didn't see the smiley. Intended to be humorous. Apologies to the sensitive readers if my post caused loss of sleep, nightmares, or other horrible consequences.

Not a problem. Our 14 chickens think I'm a decent sort of person, especially when I give them food scraps!

Can the birds get in with a chimney cap on? I really love birds, I haven't had any get in, but I'd have a melt down if they did. Especially starlings, yum! ::P (Last sentence is a joke).

We have a standard cap on ours and some large birds get in.
