Help... Buck 91 still stinking after several fires

If the stove top has reached 500F in a burn the paint should be baked in. If this continues contact Buck. They may want to verify that the smell is paint and not smoke leakage somewhere.
I think tonight is the 1st night it has really been 500*+, tonight is the 1st time ive packed it ( 4 pieces Lol ) I believe it will eventually burn in but the wife thinks theres a problem... I'm 100% positive the pipe and the connection are good. Smells like heat/paint, not smoke... Just hoping Buck didn't have a Paint problem at some point....

Every time you hit a new high temp you will get a little more of the paint smell as a general rule. 500 on the stove meter, right? Where is your meter on the stove, and what temp was the cat probe reading?

I bet its paint burning off. I am getting kinda the same thing with mine. I notice the paint is still burning off on mine where the stove has the dull look now. I think your fine, just need some more burn in time.

I have a Buck 91 and did my break in fires back in the Spring. It has finally gotten cold enough where I have done 2 overnight burns. We also have a small paint smell but more than that I smell just plain old "heat" [speaking of which, the 94 is cranking out the heat]. I do not know how else to describe the smell. My stove is getting a little duller so I thing the paint is curing a tad more, just as coltfever said. I think your stove is working correctly and you do not have anything to worry about.
