So I tried to fire my stove last week and it would not fire I took the back plate off to diagnose and noticed to top feed auger was not turning. I ordered two new motors and installed them and the top is still not turning. I then took the two plugs off the bottom motor and attached to the top and it works. So I'm not getting power to the top motor leads for some reason ?? Anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this ?

You'd need 2 wires and run them from the motor to the board. But disconnect the factory wires. I'm assuming the end on the board is soldered so you'd have to hold them safely against the contact points.

It could be one of the built in safety devices on the stove, like the vacuum switch. the top auger stops if these safety devices detect and unsafe condition. I don't know if your year/model has a hopper switch (mine doesn't) but if the lid is open (or switch is bad) then the upper auger stops too.

You can test this all out by bypassing each safety device one at a time. If you find the problem, be sure to correct the condition and not just leave the safety bypassed.

The top auger on these stoves is the metering auger and is suppose to run on for half a turn and stop every fifteen seconds. if all doors are not closed it will not turn.

I would assume you completely cleared the top auger tube from all pellets before installing the new motor. As was stated earlier, the top auger runs intermittently.
