Found a few logs yesterday. Wood was very light and looked soft like a pine, spruce, or fir but no signs of evergreen needles anywhere and the other trees around were all deciduous. There is no sap, and no pine smell. Leaves were dryed up but appeared to be very small elongated ovals, browned at this point. The woods split very easily. After cutting, the ends have the fuzzy feeling of a softwood. Any ideas? Will be good kindling once dry. The tree had fallen over in a parking lot at a public park. Someone had cut up into about 8' logs. It was about 6" diameter. I grabbed the two logs I could get and threw them in the truck.
