Anyone Tried an Eco-Fan with Wood Burning Insert

Hey guys...just wanted to know if anyone has tried using a heat powered eco-fan on a wood burning insert? I have a Hampton HI300 and thought an eco-fan might be good during power outages since the blower won't work. I have webbed eco-fans and they are expensive...most running right around $100.00 bucks or more. Some of the reviews say they can break easily and that's a lot to spend if it really won't make much difference in moving the heat throughout the house. I'm wondering if the radiant heat from the insert would still do the job without the blower? I would make the investment in an eco-fan if people really think they work great in place of a blower during power outages. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I tried one and took it back, wasn't really worth it for an insert. Most of us with inserts use UPS backups or 12v car batteries with inverters to run the fans if the power is out, or hookup a generator for longer outages.

I have one and I use it mostly to quickly judge the temp of the stove. During power outages it helps very little. Reason being it is supposed to goon the back of the stove and push air forward. There is no backof the stove on an insert, so the help is minimal. I use a computer fan rig hooked up to 9V and that works much better.

I have one too. great way to tell the temp of the stove from across the room. Fun to talk about when people see if. Moves virtually no air

Can you elaborate about the system . I just manged to keep temperatures in outage but might need little push if temps will get lower or to raise temps when failed to re load.

Just google UPS backups and it is great device. I didn't know about them. makes great sense for me as i can charge it at work and than use it at home , before going to work again.
