My son's father-in-law and I transported 3 pickup loads of firewood (cedar, sassafrass, and cherry). Think I am set for this year.

Good deal. I wish that's all I burned a year. I was about 6-7 cord yr. but with a new stove I'm shooting for 4-5. Time will tell.

You only need 1.5 cord or so to heat your house for the season? I wish..

same here especially considering it is all fairly low btu wood. I do like sassafras though it smells great

I can always get more wood if needed. My son has about 8 cords left. The weather in Northern Virginia is fairly mild, so I don't need to rely upon wood for heat. I tend not to burn it when my grandchildren are around for fear of burns. Finally, my wife will not operate the wood stove, so I can only run it in the evenings or on the weekends. Expect we will burn more wood when I am retired.
