Just an FYI,
One of the welds on my inside brick retaining plates cracked. I told my dealer about a month ago and sent them pictures to forward to Jotul. They are aware of the problem and have a repair kit. Last night the tech from my dealer was here and did both the left and right side plates. Basically they grind out the old ones and bolt in new ones. The guy did an awesome job and was here until almost 7:00 pm. I was a little uneasy about drilling holes into my stove but I guess that's what will correct the problem. Hopefully they hold up.

Any symptoms? Or you just peeked inside one day and noticed?

After noticing that the plates bowed out, I started paying more attention to the inside of the stove. One day while cleaning out the stove I had noticed the cracked weld. I am sure that it would still perform well but being a new stove, I figured that I would let my dealer know about the problem.

Do you know if this problem has been fixed? Or will all F55's need this repair kit?
That I don't know. If you notice the plates bowing out, keep an eye on the welds. Should you have a problem I would contact your dealer.

Is this the place you're talking about?

Thanks for the heads-up. I just ran downstairs. Mine was manufactured 3/27/2012 and looks like the one in jeffersonm's picture.

Just checked mine too. Looks fine. Built in April 2013.
