No need for multiple pics. The first one is fine.

Plate steel stoves are typically limited to 800 degrees stove top temp measured on the hottest spot which is right in the middle of the sloped part of the little step on the NC30. The manuals usually also say something like "no part of the stove shall glow red"
Carbon steel will just start to glow faint red at ~925-950* so I'm sayin even a short jaunt over 800... to 900* (tops), wouldn't hurt it as long as it wasn't cooled too quickly (like opening the stove or dousing with water)

Sorry I was cropping the pictures in different views. Learning curve. So how does that look, its cold right now? Thanks for the help everyone.

Okay called Englander. Found out it is a miss weld. There are supposed to be three welds along that plate. The middle weld let go.

Good to catch it early. What will be the resolution?

Two ways. One way is I have a welder come out and weld it. They pay up to 175. The other way is to take it to a freight shipper and ship it out to Englander and have Englander shoot me back a new one. The gentleman does not think that Home Depot will take it back

It isn't going to affect anything. The "doghouse" in front of it blocks air deflected in that spot anyway. Mine was built before they put the extra attachments under the left and right sides of that deflector and day one the tack weld on the right side popped. I was going to drill it and lock it down with a stainless steel screw but never got around to it. Nine years ago and it hasn't affected anything.

Look now after heating up

That piece let loose on the left side in my stove after about 2 months burning. After a call to ESW I knew I had invalidated my warranty anyway, so I just pulled on the piece and found there was only one weld holding it. I removed it completely. I fabricated a new 'dogbox' with a new removable shield in mind. Before I made the new shield I had to build a fire, only to find out the stove works better without it!

If I were you I wouldn't send the stove back for that missed weld. If it flexes there during the thermal cycling it might reduce stress on the main welds at the ends. And If it lets go completely you might find value in that!

Well now I have another problem forming. Damn it this stove is awesome but causing me way more headaches than I need.

That is the top of the stove right by the pipe collar. A little behind the pipe collar. What is going on now????? Now I'm just about fed up with this unit. Great stove but now I'm getting aggravated.

You have ice on the stove? That can't be good. ;lol

Excuse me no. That stove never goes above 650. I'm not overloading it because I'm scared of putting too much wood in and overfiring it. Never goes above the firebrick either. I need to know how to get another stove and not pay any charges for this problem. I'm an upset customer.

Bummer. That's pretty uncommon for a new stove. Could be that area was contaminated before painting or a bad batch of paint? Time to call Englander support.

Scrape it off, sand and spray a little high temp black on it. Fixed!
You get what you pay for. Cant expect the quality of a BMW from a Hyundai.

For close to a grand it seems reasonable to expect the paint to stay on.

Anyone who's watched this forum knows that Englanders quality is not the best. From Madison springs to whining blowers on pellet stoves there are numerous threads on poor quality with these units. For a low end stove, they're not bad but they do have quality issues. Just saying buyer beware.

I installed mine a month or two ago and have burnt it about 10 times or so and I love mine. Yours may have been made on a Friday or a Monday morning lol. It's easy to get a lemon with anything. I believe I'd just scape it and wipe it down with acetone and hit it with some high temp paint. Mine draws so hard I'm afraid I'm gonna have to close some secondary air off. I'm sure englander will take care of you if your that unhappy with it.

Sure, it's a "value stove" but the paint shouldn't be an issue, like begreen said. Definitely contact them; Englander is known for great customer service.

I don't blame you for being upset. That should not happen with a brand new stove.I had mine for 3 years and burn 24/7 from dec. to april and I have had no problems at all with mine.i would send it back.
