Hey everybody,

Got a quick question...has anyone ever heard of the "Alaskan" brand of wood stoves...and if so, can anyone attest to their quality or lack thereof? :)

Thanks,

Matt

I believe one of the mods should move this to the wood stove section

Alaskan I believe makes a coal stove.

Well, apparently they also make a wood stove. Looking into maybe buying one from a guy...says up to 12,000 to 42,000 btu...has the model as well (1600). Just cant find any info on it online. Fairly new (10 years old).

The other stove I had my eye on was an older Vermont Castings Encore (80s or early 90s model)...the only issue is that I think the cat combuster might need changing. Shell and everything else is okay. Not sure if there is a problem running it through a 6 inch flue though.

Got a one story, 1300 foot space to heat...insulation not too great. Any other recommendations would be appreciated. Wanting to get something simple that I wont have to invest too much into (i.e. something without too many fragile moving parts).

Thanks,

VC Encore does not fit that bill!!!

just get yourself a brand new Englander 30 from Home Depot. Can be found online for about $900 with delivery. :)
