So I was getting my chimney swept and Buck stove inspected yesterday and received some good and bad news. First, the good news.....once again this year my guy was impressed with my extremely clean stove pipe.....props to this site teaching me the benefits of burning good seasoned wood. However, the bad news...he also discovered 2 very small cracks that have formed in the upper left and right front corners of my freestanding Buck 74 stove. The I good news is that they have a 5 year warranty and I still have one year left in that window. The bad part is that once approved to be under warranty by Buck the stove has to be pulled out and sent back to them for repair.....and guess who would have to pay the freight both ways......yep.....me the customer. The other option, which requires some timing is that my installer sends it back to Buck with some stuff, Buck repairs, and then sends it back to my installer, who sells Buck stoves, with their next scheduled shipment of stuff from Buck. Seems like a lot of work but would save me a ton of money instead of paying the freight. I am hoping this can all be done in the spring so we won't be without the stove for what seems like will be a long period.

That's unfortunate, but it sounds like it will work out OK in the end. Can you post pics of the cracks?
