So years ago, late 80's, I was told this is an 075, but after googling i can tell its an 076, (because of the side fill bar oil reservoir? ) then i noticed there is an 076 Super, difference being the air intake is raised, to me mine looks raised. Can a Stihl expert verify this for me, i need a few parts, in particulal a chain brake spring. Thanks!

I know very little about this generation of saws, but the 076 IPL only shows one brake tension spring regardless of model variant: 0000 997 6004

Edit: that's the same spring used on the 075 as well.

Also from the IPL, the air filter cover on the basic 076 has a part number ending in 0504, while the Super's ends in 0505. If you can find one of those numbers on the casting somewhere, that would be a strong indicator. There are also differences in the lengths of the studs securing the carb and air cleaner covers, but those are harder to measure without disassembly.

Thanks x 2 John, it ends in 0505...

You're welcome. According to the IPL I have, that filter cover was only used on the 076S and 076SR. In both cases I'm taking the "S" to mean "Super." I don't know what the "R" stands for.
