We experienced 70 mph winds this Tuesday and our town is still trying to recover from all the power outages. Biggest power outage in history. All though I never lost power, I know many people who are still without power and no heat in their homes. It's supposed to be low 20s tonight. Thankful for wood heat!!

Been there a few times. For up to a week. All of a sudden the stove becomes the most important thing in the house.

It's always pretty important here; Our backup heat is an electric oven.

Yes a wood stove is a wonderful thing. The power may go out for a week, OPEC may double oil prices, that won't affect my ability to heat my home, or, even to cook, in a pinch.
I have a 2 year supply of dry wood in the woodshed, and I have 3 chain saws and a Nissan pickup. I live on 39 heavily forested acres, I have literally an infinite supply of firewood within 300 feet of my house.

I'm in a similar situation. Blessed to have many options for staying warm, comfortable and self sufficient.
