Well tonight I've let the wife have the reigns of the old hotblast as I had some running round to do after work. It's a cold startup not a reload. Let's see if I have a warm house and a clean burn when I get home. We shall see!!!

My wife only smoked the house up twice before she figured out the lighting sequence and damper. She does more lighting and loading than I do.

My wife used to heat this joint with our wood stove for weeks at a time when I was travelling.

Unfortunately, my wife runs the woodfurnace during the day. Not because she doesn't know how, but she keeps it 76-78 when I'm not here. She says when I'm home it's cold (72-74), yeah right!

Well warm house at 70. Clean burn. I've taught her well, no issues. Plus she did the cleanout before light up. I'm proud!
76-78 I'd be dying. We range from 60-70.

I need a new wife!!!
Dont do it ! you will lose all your energy savings and then some.
I agree with huffdawg, except if she can't run the automatic idiot proof Kuuma...well, then maybe you right! ;lol
Seriously, don't do it, you'll end up living in a box and burning cardboard in a barrel for heat

Two years ago I was laid up after surgery, the good wife did everything splitting kindling to cleaning the chimney !
Given the chance you may be surprised!

I guess I'm pretty lucky too. Mine likes keeping warm so she doesn't mind pitching in. She understands the ramifications of heating the other way! Hits hard in the pocket book! Electric rates here aren't cheap!!!

I've been burning wood for years and years and I don't think my wife knows it yet!

Well wife's been great until tonight . Came home and found two logs smoldering in furnace because of how they were loaded. It's ok she learned the error in her ways when I showed her lol

My wife does fine keeping the boiler going. I'm teaching her how to switch from gas to wood and vice versa, because I'm on the road from time to time, and it might be something she has to do. I created a printed instruction sheet (with photos), that gives her the confidence to do it. She's nervous about blowing the place up, I guess. I don't worry about that too much….as long as I'm not around (J/K).
