Cape Cod, Ma.
The house immediately went up to 73 deg., well within 40 minutes or so. Wow ! Had to have a fire for Thanksgiving, running right now this minute cut back to Stove Temp Auto, low fan, output 2, feed 3 just to cut it back and keep it going for a while.. I opened up and cleaned the vent today and that spurred a desire for fire. Plus the wife will have turkey cooking all day in the kitchen tomorrow which means the heat won't come on and the living room will feel cool with company in the house. Not now, what the adult kids call "The Dope Machine" is officially running in the new season !

Oh, burning ThemaGlo ( the P61 doesn't care what you throw at it anyway)..

There's nothing better than pellet heat. Everyone saying oil is cheaper, what about maintenance, too much work just don't understand! Enjoy!

Gotta love the P61 - it will burn just about anything and has a big enough ahs pan that it doesn't need to be emptied for weeks, even using the ashiest pellets!

Hello

The only thing better than a P61a-2 is TWO P61a-2s ! ! ! LOL

just scraped the heat exchanger because,, well, just because...
anyways, thought the ash pan looked a bit full even though I emptied it out around 10 days or so ago. [really didn't need to do that either...the pan is bigger than my sock drawer...==c
seems the ash was Banked on the sides like a hill.
knocked it down with a paint brush and barely 1/4 full in reality.
good for couple more weeks or more..

Tony is that with them Smith pellets?
no....
only had a few of them.
burning Energex Golden Pellets..low ash..
can only get these pellets at selected Hearth dealers and They Only get them from Energex plant like one major delivery a year in the spring.
[think certain seasonal beers that are available limited time.].
Pellets are only made for short period of time per year.
very clean with zero fines in the bag..

Ok here is the deal. Back when I was burning coal in Ernest and all my then teen aged kids ( 5 of them his hers and ours) had their friends over and gathered in our living room in the dead of winter, half of the gang would all fall asleep by the heat of the fire. My youngest daughters then boyfriend dubbed the stove the dope machine. He had never seen anything like the effect of that coal stove and actually him being a highly energetic sort himself was often the first to conk out on our floor in front of it. The name has just carried on since.. But this P61 radiates quite a bit of heat as well. Making it a shorter story, we always had a very warm, comfortable and quiet living room. A common gathering spot, which was great, we knew where the kids were at that way ! And asleep is all the better with teen agers. Of course they headed off from there, it was after all just the gather spot.

Hey they were teen agers, if that's all they thought of me then I'll consider that a win ! LOL. But I don't think that was the case, we had a very decent re-pour with the kids. .

Thanks. Good story and makes perfect sense.

Yeah, man 40+ years of running a fire on a hearth is a long time, seems like yesterday it all began !
