THello,

My husband and I just purchased a 9 year old, used Hearthstone Heritage 8021 in soap stone and sea foam green. When moving the stove, we disconnected the handle on the ash door so it would not break. Now, we have tried for a total of 3 hours to reattach the door appropriately. I have read other posts here about the ash door not connecting fully, about the uselessness of the ash pan, and about making sure there's an inch of ash in the pan and leaving it be, which helps with burning temps. However, we cannot close the ash door and until we can, cannot burn our new stove.

Can anyone help us? I want to seal it correctly, collect an inch of ash in the pan, and then never open it again. Are there photos which can be provided showing us how to line up the wooden handle with the shaft and latch (I am aware of the 9 o'clock when closed, 7 o'clock when open rule and have scoured Hearthstone's website for a diagram to no avail)? How does the latch operate inside?! Gah!

Thanks Hearth friends,

Kathryn

Unfortunately, this is all that the manual shows. Hope it helps...
I will keep looking for additional info...
