Which splitter should I get?

Do you have any other stores that you can check out for splitters? One of the things to look for when ordering online is whether the unit will have hydraulic fluid & engine oil included or not. That will add to the overall cost as well. I would by locally if possible, just for the fact that if there is a problem, you can take it back to the store or at least have someone that you can talk to face to face.

I have an American.....made here in western NY. They are not cheap, but quality never is.

Being Canadian I bought Canadian .Better Quality and a 3 year Warranty
Looked at the imports not impressed
Buy the best that you can afford you wont be sorry

There's one in Patterson.
That's where I got my 35 ton.

Look at the 22 from tractor supply at 1k.

I really happy with my Gravely (Ariens) 22 ton. Really built rugged. No problems. Probably 30 cord split so far. Never slows down. Mostly oak , ash and locust. 1399.99

If I were in the market for a new splitter, I'd seriously consider the DHT 22-ton or 28-ton splitter from Lowes/Home Depot. Those models have the same in-beam log cradle I like on my Huskee to go along with their faster cycle times.

I've been very satisfied with my 22 ton from Menards. I believe it was a bit over a thousand. Rare to feel that I need anything larger.

I have the 20-ton Bi-Directional Powerhorse from Northern Tool. I bought mine at a Northern Tool retail store. Only paid $925+tax. It was filled with all fluids. Great machine!

It looks like TSC isn't going to have their 22-ton splitter on sale on Black Friday like in the past couple years. Right now it's $999 and so is the DHT at Lowe's. I would consider the DHT over the CountyLine at TSC for two reasons, the tongue seems heavier and the jack stand is much better.

Anyone have experience with this one? Log lift and working table for <3k.

Mine arrived last week. I haven't had a chance to use it yet (will use it this weekend). I ordered a 4-way splitter as well. Use of a 4-way was the deciding factor between the 35t or 28t. 35t was $100 more, and weighs 75 lbs more (according to the manual). 1.5-2 second slower cycle time on the 35.

I use it for horse/trail riding @ night .. 4:30pm in New England
That is the reason I got it for, but I have been known to go into the woods to pick up wood all ready cut up.

I ended up buying the 22ton county line friday from TSC because of this tip. thanks!

it was on sale for $850 before tax. pre assembled and fill of fluids. so far I love it but do not have any hwrdwoods to test at the moment only a downed soft maple in the yard

I have split lots of hardwood with my 22 ton huskee (looks identical) - no problems even the big rounds you have to go upright with - get the log catcher/cradle for it asap - or weld up your own

good advice, I will get that catcher next time im at tsc. its $40 right now.

or I might build one, I will probably add a small shoot to it anyway so I can split and push right on to the flatbed trailer
