Can two guys load an Enviro omega?

I'm going to pick one up tomorrow and it'll just be me and the owner putting it in the bed of a truck. Just wondered if its possible. Im planning on getting it up to the truck and leaning the top back side against the tailgate then picking up the bottom and sliding it on a bit, one guy holds the end while the other. Gets up in the bed and lift it over the seam where the tailgait meets the bed. Once its on stand her up and strap her down. Open to better suggestions as I'm sure there has to be better ways. Thanks..
 
No,no,and no.1 very heavy stove.2 most truck tailgates made since the 1970's are total junk,do not try to even slide heavy weight across it.Strap it to an appliance dolly to load in truck.Use a come a long to ratchet it in.If no come a long,buy some cheap ratchet straps,use several so can rehook.If no dolly,take some 2x4's or bigger to slide up.3 guys would be safe,4 fine.Take tailgate off and use back of bed for support.Just an old mechanic

It might be easier to put it on a low trailer like a snowmobile trailer or even one that pivets then back up to it with your pickup. Or simply rent a low trailer and a moving cart makes life a lot easier.

I agree with rona,what i use is a cheap tailgate ramp trailer(tractor supply) and an appliance hand truck,lay it down,strap it in.
 
Wheels and leverage are the key. I picked up my PC45 by myself and unloaded it with the front loader on my tractor. A small trailer with a fold down ramp gate would be ideal as mentioned and a two wheeler dolly would be a piece of cake.

You have a truck and could borrow or rent a small trailer cheap. Otherwise, the hardest part is getting it in and out of the truck bed.
 
The omegas weight is 325 Lbs. figure it out from there
If hopper is full 455 Lbs.!!!
 
WP_20151212_20_24_36_Pro.jpg I got her home. I lucked out, he had a fork truck. My truck bed is level with my porch. I just strapped it to a Hand truck and wheels her in, after I made her 120 lbs lighter by emptying the hopper. Man this thing is huge! It's very well made too. I thought my Quad, Harman and Cumberland were something but this thing is in a completely different category. I got a great deal too the guy threw in 25 bags of Pikes pellets and an ash vac. What a day, oh I forgot to mention I made the 400 mile round trip in my 94 Dodge Cummins that has 408,000 miles on it. A real adventure today!
 
Glad it all worked out for ya! I was looking at the Omega when I was in the market. It is a neat stove. I didn't get one because the so called local dealer was goofy. Very unreliable clueless shady etc; Thought getting parts and stuff would be a big hassle and warranty work if needed would not have happened.

I do like the stove though. Let us know how it all works out for you. Get that pig installed and get it throwing some heat. Where are you in the midwest?

The Cummins will run a very long time. A neighboring farmer out here has a first generation and he thinks he has over a million miles on his. His ODO broke at just over 600K miles and years ago. It's about done but still running pretty well. I have an '01 5.9 Cummins 24 valve 6 spd 4x4 quad cab dump bed and also just bought a new Ram 6.7 Cummins 6 spd 4x4 crew cab long bed. Love it! Traded in my Duramax on it.

What kind of cash did you have to pay for the new stove if you don't mind saying? Just curious. They have somewhat of a european look to them. It's good you have so many different brands so shoot us a comparison between all of them. Pros and cons of each etc; I look forward to your analysis of them. Four different stoves in many ways but they all sling pellets. That huge hopper kicks butt and I'm sure you will like that.
 
I didn't give much for it. It was cheap enough to make me hustle to Chicago to pick it up. I live in the Springfield area. I plan on setting it up temporarily to test it out, then I want to do some mods. I want to put that high flow CFM blower on it that Jtakeman put on his. Once that's all proved out I plan on putting it in the basement and plumbing it into some abandoned ductwork in my old house. If this works out I will probably be selling a few stoves. I've got 4 on hand and just want a main one and a back up.

I picked up a new furnace so I have to pull the old one out and put the new in. Hopefully I can burn some propane this winter and subsidize it with some corn/pellets.

I just sold my 2005 Dodge 3500 4x4 quad cab dually. I just didn't drive it enough. It would have been nice to use it to run up there to pick that stove up. I like the old Red Dodge but that 05 was so much comfier. I have a 97 Dodge 3500 4x4 club cab too. I have it set uip as a welding rig. Its pretty much a workhorse. My 94 is kind of my new tool fetcher..lol. I've been driving Cummins for about 15 years and I've had quite a few. I'd really like the new 6.7 with the AISIN tranny. I'll have to keep my eye open for a used one. There's no way I could swing a new one.

I was starting to wonder what all you were heating with four stoves. Half of Springfield...... One thing that had my attention with the Omega Maxx was that it could be plumb and do a lot of space. They seem to be good stoves and now that I am more comfortable with pellet stoves and locating parts not relying on a dealer I would entertain one for sure for the right price.

There are some videos of them on Youtube if you haven't seen those yet. Also if you think your '05 was comfy then you'd definitely like the all coil spring suspension in the new trucks. I couldn't pass up the deal I was offered on my new 6.7. $54,000 truck down to $44,000 with discounts and rebates plus $27,000 trade in on my '08 Duramax which was paid off. So a new $54K truck for $44 - $27K = $17 to $18 K OTD tax title liscense etc; So I jumped on it. Glad I did too.

It rides better than the Duramax did also which I never thought it would. It's not as quick but it is a pulling machine. You do not even feel a heavy load or realize it's back there.

Keep us posted when you get the omega all sorted out. Post some more pics too. I like the looks of those Omegas. They are pretty big old pigs.
