Lakes froze up yet? Some of ours did a week ago and then it got warm for a week. Hoping soon. I could use some fresh fish.
We've been sliding the fat brookies through the holes for a month now......

Nice! Brook trout are such a pretty fish. Our low lying lakes are pretty sketchy but some of the higher ones have been getting reports. The lake in my picture is just over 4000 ft and has some good ice on it but with the winds breaking it up it and the open water it wasn't ready. We haven't had weather above freezing since then so Ive been thinking of venturing out on it soon. Kamloops area has some great fishing (so I hear) I would love to go on a fly fishing trip your way.

This mild weather is nice but man it is giving me and some others some nasty sinus headaches, especially after it rains!

It's nice but not right.....
Totally agree, Everyone at work has gotten sick, today its my turn, apparently it takes about 4 days to pass through.

Same here, both the wife and myself. Current forecast has us about 30F above average for Christmas. I think this will be the first one where I celebrate with the windows open in the house, and considering I was stationed in South Carolina for one...

The fuel oil guy just delivered fuel. They quoted me 2.10 but it dropped to 2.00.
I still think its high considering gas is around same price at the pump and that's with all the highway tax.
He told me he heats with wood too. And I said our house was designed to go either electric, fuel oil, or wood. Its a really safe back up.
It seemed odd have fuel delivered with temps around 60° but I usually get oil now. Heat with wood up to Christmas then combine wood with fuel oil.
If the mild temps extend into January then I may see $$ benefit. Right now Im on normal wood heat schedule.

I hope for your sake it only takes four days to pass through, what we had here in PA. takes 4 weeks to get rid of and even then you still have hints of it, it's awful!!!

Same here, goes onto the next family member and comes back around. I only feel real bad for a couple days but the wife and daughter keep it going...

That thing is a monster virus/flu.....when I got it I felt horrible and FAST; everyone to a person that saw me with it said "that thing takes 3 weeks to get rid of", like it was set in stone! And they weren't kidding, I took a little longer than that and was wondering if I got it again or never got rid of it, but it is a moot point, you just know you don't feel good! That thing zaps your energy more than a day working on firewood, just dog tired and the fatigue lasts weeks.

Drink LOTS of water, get as much rest as you can, take some vitamins, take it easy and it does get better, but man it takes a LONG time! I hope all are feeling better soon!

I'm not going to complain about this warm weather as the majority of my wood is from an 85 year old oak that was cut down April 1, 2015. If I can let that sit another year (or two) before I need to burn it, I will have better fires. I already split it as small as possible.

You've got to find the silver linings!

62 on Xmas eve. I'm trying to sell grilling xmas day dinner, eating on the deck.

I just watched the weather channel app's 3 month forecast. They are saying above average temps for most of the US with less snow fall this year. :(

I cut the trunk of the christmas tree and drug it into the house in my short sleeve shirt. A first for that.

Just had 125 gallons of fuel oil delivered today for $1.96/gallon

Genuine Influenza is very late this year. Even in New York City activity is light, when normally right now the city is a petri dish.

There is a horrendous cold going around though as some of you have described. Tis the season!

The good news is that my cold has pretty much disappeared, just have some lingering sinus congestion, no biggie, On even a higher note, last year I bought my mom and dad a pallet of those bio bricks for $305.00 (there wood was not really ready yet, thanks to this site) They loved burning those things and that got me thinking, I bet by the middle of February or beginning of March I could snatch up (2) tons of those bricks at a good discounted price, I know for a fact that the lumber yard stocks over 200 tons of those bricks so I bet by March they will be looking to free up some space.

Just talked to my mother last night, she said she had something that gave her a terrible headache, running to the bathroom and throwing up. A woman at my wife's work was admitted to the hospital with bronchitis and felt so sick she said she felt like she was dying. These viruses are just getting stronger and stronger, and this wacky warm weather gives them a chance to really mutate and breed. Very strange stuff.....

70F for Christmas Day. I've currently got the windows open as it was warmer outside than the house was inside. By the looks of it I might not be burning again until 2016
