Burning Hunk

Our new Manchester went in this past Friday, and we've had several small fires despite the warmer weather. I ran it overnight last night for the first time, with a little larger load, and it performed very well!

I went to open the air control this morning to burn down the remaining coals, and it was almost stuck...binding...and barely moved. After some wiggling, it moved a bit easier. It is still not right though. Anyone have this issue, or have a resolution? I guess I'll have to call the dealer.

Can you tell where it's binding? I'm not familiar with the air control system, but it's possible that something as simple as graphite lube could be the solution.

Air control lever is exposed only in the front of the stove, as it travels into stove body it is not visible.

I'm sure Hearthstone did not intend this to be normal but it seems this is common upon breaking the stove in. Mine was never stuck but i had to wiggle and kinda pop it across once or twice. After the first few fires the lever has worked perfect. Hope you experience the same.

That new, under warranty, call the shop, let them take it apart and lube it, you won't void any warranties trying it yourself, and if you watch, you'll learn how to do it next time it needs it.

I gave it a few days, and now it's fine...seems to operate normally.

How did you operate the air in the interim? Did it work OK once the stove cooled off?
