The control board on my Harman is acting up. Is there a forum member that can replace the pots for me?
It has the conversion control board (3 knobs). I think it's the temp knob but who knows.

Thanks!

Buy a can of electronic spray cleaner, spray behind the knobs while turning them back and forth, will help for a while.Go on ebay and order the pots.If you have an old style tv and/or pc repair shop in your area, take the board and pots in,will be easy for them.

I got a guy who repairs xBoxes and other game systems to solder mine in. He charged me $40. I probably could've done it myself but didn't want to risk it.

I did it myself and have had other more delicate projects done by a local computer repair shop before I bought a decent digital soldering iron.
The pots are currently 3 for $21

Ok, so the pots can't all be the same. The Stove Temp / Room temp has an OFF area in the middle. I'm pretty much just interested in the temp pot and the auger feed pot. Being that the board is the conversion board for my P38 with 3 knobs, do I need the 100k pot(s) or the 50k pot(s)?

Soldering them in isnt my concern. Its the desolder that concerns me because it has several contact points.

use solder wick to suck up the solder and watch your dwell time so you don't lift traces.

If you live near the coast anybody that works on mariine electronics will do it for you for a few bucks if you really don't want to learn from mstakes on an expensive board.

The 38 and coal stoves use from all that I have read here take the 50k pots.

I am having trouble with the stove temp/room temp pot too. Can someone please tell me what type of pot do I need?

The only Harman stoves that don't take the 100k pots are the 38 and the coal stoves.

ebay, search for 121809973325

Would this include the 38 that's running the conversion board? I'd think the newer style board has the 100k pots installed in it.
OK Remove your board. Before you do this study electrostatic discharge protection for circuit boards. You can find this on net. After out, look at the little blue boxes the knobs go into_On the sides will be printed 50k or 100k.

I removed the board and found that the P38+ conversion board has these for pots:
Stove/Off/Room = 50k
Temperature = 100k
Feed Rate = 100k

I talked with a seller on eBay about it and he was going to send me the right pots needed. Great guy to deal with. He also said that he'd update his ad for Harman P38 customers with the conversion boards to have the right set.

Good info,is why I reccomended visual verification.Apparently the p38 upgrade is different(which I suspected)but did not know the big stove(p68) is different.Good info, and good luck with repair.

Great pics - thanks for contributing.
I desoldered the old pots off the board and popped them open. You could clearly see the wipe marks on each of them and they were pretty dirty. Wish me luck in soldering the new ones in.

Thanks. I have an xxv, and never heard of these. I bight them just in case. My blower motor has been acting up, and figured these were worth a shot.
I would pull the blower unit and get it to a air compressor and see if there are some dust bunnies trying to setup camp. If your signature is right you probably are in need of new door gaskets too.

Hi,

I need some help to understand how to remove the old circuit board. The board is retain with those 4 pins. For those who replaced their potentiometer, did you cut those pins to remove the circuit board?

Yes, you can see slots in the pins so should just pop off.

Also, this is old info on the replacement pots. Would highly recommend to install the “ultra long life” pots now on the big auction site. Have them in my main board and a backup board and couldn’t be happier. Best $ I spent upgrading the original cheap blue pots
